THE HILLS ARE ALIVE
63cm x 53cm (framed)
Oil on paper

Walking across Dartmoor in the early morning, I looked across the hills and saw a magnificent tree that was covered in frost and shone almost blue in the light. Every surface was alive with glittering light.

WILD WOOD PATH
40cm x 30cm
Oil on MDF

The forest I walk in regularly always fascinates with its paths and thick foliage. The sunlight and shadows make it appear a different place every time I visit. This painting is the height of summer when the trees and undergrowth are especially lush.

A WANDER IN THE WOODS
58cm x 42cm
Acrylic on canvas paper

Woods offer such scope to a painter - so many ways to paint trees and leaves and the feeling of being surrounded by lush growth.

STORMY SUNSET
43cm x 53cm
Acrylic on paper

The combination of sunsete and heavily clouded skies can make for amazing images. And with some extra imagination they can become even more striking. And ominous.

SUMMER LEAVES
Acrylic on box canvas

Summer time gives leaves on most trees a beautiful plump and colourful appearance - unlike the Autumn when they go crazy! So here is a view of a tree of very happy leaves enjoying a summer day.

AUTUMN LEAVES
65cm x 40cm
Acrylic on box canvas

Autumn is just a gift to an artist - everywhere is filled with colourful trees and often unusual coloured leaves as the tree gets ready for the Winter.

Then it all goes quiet and Spring arrives with even more wonderful trees to paint.

THROUGH THE WOODS
00cm x 00cm
Acrylic on canvas board

Woods offer such opportunities to a painter - not just the trees but the light and shadows, the paths. In this painting I have tried to give a feel of the wood rather than faithfully painting every tree.

THE SYCAMORE GAP
50cm x 60cm
Acrylic on box canvas

The iconic sycamore in the gap in the hills is a tree asking to be painted - it is beautifully framed by the hills, stands alone so is very visible and the whole just makes a great composition.

Will be exhibited at the Women in Art Biennale, Chelsea

VOLCANIC LANDSCAPE

80cm X 80cm

Acrylic on box canvas

Most landscapes are green but how exciting a landscape can be if it was to show something quite different…like what it looked like after a volcanic eruption? Well, here is one view of how that could look!

SUMMER - DREAM ON!

50cm x 40cm

Acrylic on canvas paper

On an especially rainy day I longed for some bright sunshine to light up the landscape…it never came so I had to invent it through a painting!

MIDSUMMER DAY

50cm x 60cm

Acrylic on foam board

As the year gets warmer so does Nature and what joy that brings. In a nearby wood the tree trunks shone blue in the summer heat….yes really!

AUTUMN HILLS

Acrylic on paper

After the green of summer the changing season can be quite a shock in the colours it presents. But for a painter they are magic!
